Courses
EFCA GATEWAY programming consists of session-based curricula that cycle through a learning rhythm of studying, distilling, discussing and applying.
For discussions, some cohorts meet in person while others meet virtually. All of GATEWAY’s short writing assignments prompt you to articulate and navigate essential and non-essential issues, asking you to locate support for your beliefs in Scripture.
GATEWAY believes that learning is better when it’s solidified through community and mentoring. Each image-bearer connects with God differently, and we learn more when we learn from one another. Through GATEWAY's learning rhythm, you will study on your own, write first rough drafts, refine in community and multiply your learning by applying it in your context.
GATEWAY’s EFCA Doctrinal Essentials and EFCA Missional Essentials course sessions are generally completed at the pace of one session per month. Each session requires about 15 hours of independent study and one, 2-3-hour long cohort discussion meeting. You should expect each course to take about one year to complete, two years total.
Course: EFCA Doctrinal Essentials
This 12-session curriculum is facilitated by an EFCA-credentialed ministry leader. The first 10 sessions walk through the EFCA Statement of Faith, article by article, and the last two discuss current doctrinal and lifestyle issues. This course guides participants through the completion of the 15-20 page doctrinal paper that is required to apply for an EFCA Christian Ministry License credential.
Course: EFCA Missional Essentials (coming 2027)
This session-based curriculum is facilitated by an EFCA-credentialed ministry leader. The sessions will walk participants through the EFCA mission statement: “We exist to glorify God by multiplying transformational churches among all people.” It will include practical equipping for biblical studies that sparks personal worship, disciple multiplication, personal and community transformation, and ministering to those with varied cultural perspectives.
